About Us

Dexter Kolder, RVT

Queer, Neurodivergent, Animal Pal (he/him)

Passionate about animal behavior from a young age, I have dedicated over 15 years of my professional career to working in animal health technology. Throughout this journey, I discovered my true calling in dog training. With 8+ years of hands-on experience in the field, I have honed my skills to become a trusted and compassionate dog trainer. I hold two Associate’s degrees in Science from San Diego Mesa and Miramar College

At Pawsitive Choice, I firmly believe in the power of positive reinforcement. My training methods are centered around creating a nurturing and fear-free environment for your furry friends. By focusing on praise and rewards, no matter how small or slow the progress, I help foster a strong bond between you and your beloved canine companion.

Specializing in positive behavior modification, I strive to understand the unique needs and challenges of each dog and owner. Through personalized training programs, I tailor my approach to address specific behavioral issues and breed characteristics. My goal is to empower dog owners with the knowledge and tools they need to create a harmonious and joyful relationship with their pets.

Continual growth is a fundamental aspect of my work. I actively pursue ongoing education, participating in training workshops and courses to stay at the forefront of the latest techniques and advancements in dog training. By doing so, I ensure that my clients receive the highest level of expertise and effective training solutions.

Beyond training, I believe that owning a dog should be a fun and fulfilling experience. Dogs bring immense joy and companionship into our lives, and I emphasize the importance of incorporating play, training, and cuddling into your daily routine. It’s through these positive interactions that we build lasting bonds and happy memories with our furry family members.

If you’re located in the Edina, MN area, I also offer pet sitting services to provide your dogs (and other pets) with a safe and comfortable environment when you need to be away. Rest assured that your beloved pets will receive the same level of care and attention that they deserve.

Thank you for considering Pawsitive Choice. I look forward to working with you and your four-legged companion on this transformative journey towards a well-behaved and balanced dog.

ouTSIDE of animals

Howdy! Outside of my love for animals I’m also a gamer, movie lover, and music enthusiast. I believe that understanding a dog’s unique story is crucial in creating effective training strategies. As an autistic trans man, I value empathy and creating inclusive spaces. I dream of owning a plot of land with goats and cows, and my heart is set on running an elder dog hospice. Let’s work together to bring harmony and happiness to you and your furry companions.
